The Steps of Our Implant Treatment

1

Step One: Meet with our Dentists

Your first treatment step is to meet with our team so we can learn about your concerns and smile goals! Having multiple missing teeth can cause significant embarrassment and even physical day-to-day discomfort. Our goal is to bring you out of this situation and into one where you feel attractive, confident, and healthy with a complete and functional smile. So this consultation and treatment planning phase is important to achieving these results. We’ll first take photos of your smile in our photo studio, so we can digitally design what it will look like after treatment is done. Then, we’ll take CBCT scans of your mouth, high-resolution 3D images that let us see the quality of your bone in detail. These scans help us plan your surgery and aid in the design of the custom surgical guide we’ll use. Next, we’ll schedule your implant surgery date.

2

Step Two: Have Your Implants Placed

Your day of surgery is first about making you feel comfortable and relaxed. We’ll assist you if necessary, with our sedation services, including nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Both these options will put you in a calm, drowsy state during your surgery. Dr. Leedy will extract any lingering unhealthy teeth, then using the surgical guide, place the dental implants in your jawbone. Our dentists use high-quality dental implants from long-standing manufacturers, including Nobel Biocare and Straumann®. These biocompatible implants have the durability to last for decades and the versatility to ensure the restoration we attach looks incredibly natural and attractive. Next, we’ll place bone grafts around the implant posts if needed and add plasma rich growth factors to aid in healing, before suturing your gum tissue back in place. If the dental implants have good primary stability in your bone, we’ll attach a temporary bridge that will provide function while your mouth heals.

Step Three: Get Your Final Dental Bridge

You will need to heal for a few months after surgery before receiving your final dental implant bridge. During this recovery phase, your jawbone and bone grafts are fusing around the dental implant post, a process known as osseointegration. This integration of bone and titanium is what creates a durable foundation for your new teeth. While you’re healing, Dr. Green will design your custom dental bridge to meet your smile goals and provide the greatest aesthetics and function. This bridge is made from a strong, durable material that we’ll color match to your existing teeth. Our goal is to have your dental implant bridge be indistinguishable from the rest of your smile! When your healing phase is complete, you’ll return to our office to have your temporary bridge removed and your final restoration attached. With proper care and maintenance, your new implant supported bridge will last for many years!
